easter resurrection rolls.

Easter is one of our very favorite weeks because of the hope and freedom we have in life because of Jesus.

These resurrection rolls are a great hands on way of having your littles involved in what the story of Jesus burial + resurrection means for their life. While it is cute, it’s just a representation that pales in comparison to the truth of the story. Below are steps on how to make them along with a very simple way of explaining it to even your youngest kiddos! Enjoy!

PREP:

There are five simple ingredients : crescent rolls, sugar, cinnamon, butter and marshmallows! Preheat your oven according to crescent roll package instructions. You will melt the butter, mix together the cinnamon and sugar then lay out the crescent rolls where they are flat so you can roll the marshmallows later. We open the Bible to John 19:38-20:18 and begin reading the passage. Along the way, we describe what each ingredient represents along with the passage reading.

MARSHMALLOW: represents Jesus — pure, sinless, perfect.

MELTED BUTTER: represents the mixture Jesus’ friends put on His body

CINNAMON SUGAR: represents the spices Jesus’ friends put on His body

CRESCENT ROLLS: represents the strips of linen they wrapped around Jesus’ body.

Along with the story reading, we take a marshmallow and dip it in the butter and roll it in the spices then lay it on the crescent roll to be wrapped up. After each one is wrapped up, lay them all in the baking dish and bake in the oven, representing laying Jesus body in the tomb for three days.

After baking 8-10 minutes, remove the dish from the oven. Open the roll revealing an ‘empty tomb’ (melted marshmallow) where Jesus rose from the dead and use that time to share more of what this means for each of us!
